The Year That Was
Hi!
I am Madhu and welcome to my first blogpost! I am a Transformational Life Coach, NLP Practitioner and Hypnotherapist and facilitate Empowerment Workshops. I am an MBA in Human Resources and after nearly twenty years of partnering with the corporate world, I decided to deep dive into the world of personal growth and transformation in 2017. It has been a very enriching and fulfilling journey so far and I look forward to more growth, learning and sharing with all of you!
2018 was personally a mixed year for me with new beginnings, some beautiful and fun moments, considerable challenges and a good deal of learning. It was deeply fulfilling to see my dream project – Purple Nirvana – finally take off. Beautiful experiences came in the form of unexpected holidays, long road trips, lots of fun times with friends and family. And then there were challenges, health issues with close ones and disruptions of normal routine. And a rather sad end to the year with a sudden and untimely death in the family.
Good and bad, the last year did teach me a lot. So, perhaps this is the best starting point for my blog – to share my ‘learnings’ and realizations from this past year.
One Step At a Time: When circumstances were very challenging, I found that going with the flow and just focussing on one step at a time, one day at a time helped tremendously. It is very easy to get overwhelmed by the bigger picture and at times this could paralyse us into panic or helplessness and inaction. One step at a time gives us the necessary space and time to get a proper handle on the situation and take necessary action.
It is OK to Not be Strong Sometimes: I also learnt that it is okay to not be strong all the time; it is okay to take help, even ask for it sometimes. For those of us who believe in being strong always this is a difficult pill to swallow, but trust me, at times we do need to step back a little. We do not have to play superhero all the time.
Fragility of Life: When confronted with bereavement, the fragility and uncertainty of life really hits us. My big realization was that the only certainty is this moment, the present moment. Now. Make the most of every moment and do the best you can. It is really pointless to live in the past harbouring anger, resentment or even guilt. Or to live bogged down by fear and anxiety about the future. Death is truly a great leveller – all the pointless drama we bring into our lives seems completely meaningless in the end. Love, forgive and make peace for we know not how much time we have left in this world with the people we love.
Gratitude: For their unflinching unconditional love and support, I will always be grateful to my family and friends. There is nothing more comforting than to know you can fall back on your loved ones for support when the going gets tough.
Trust the Universe: And last but not the least; to trust in the Universe – for all those moments of joy and sharing and for all those difficult moments too. Trust that every experience is learning and that is what we are here for. To experience, to learn and to grow.
So that was my first shout out to all of you, lots more to share in my posts to come. Let me close by wishing all you lovely people a great 2019! May this year bring all of us much joy, peace and love!
Much love and light
Madhu
